Job Purpose
The purpose of the Associate Network Security Engineer is to plan, design, implement, and maintain the security systems of an organization's network. The engineer is responsible for maintaining and updating firewalls and other network hardware, implementing network security blueprints, new security protocols, and working with other IT team members to ensure the network is secure and efficient.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure that the IT network infrastructure design, implementation, support and maintenance activities are conducted according to the requirements of the bank’s capacity, products and services.
- Manage the collaboration with all stakeholders (such as internal customers, technology team and infrastructure vendors) participating in network design, implementation, support, maintenance and improvement.
- Assess demand for changes/enhancements to new and existing applications, making recommendations regarding infrastructure capacity, performance, compatibility, security, support and associated cost estimates to execute systems enhancements.
- Monitoring and tracking security issues, vulnerabilities, and threats.
- Designing and deploying LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, firewalls, load balancers, switches, and other hardware.
- Conducting regular vulnerability assessments to prevent security incidents.
- Assess the issues/change requests, factor in impact, business priorities and delivery capabilities; schedule delivery, and liaise with stakeholder for timely delivery of solutions.
- Support the review and monitoring of the performance, quality, capacity and security of the respective infrastructure and ensure all appropriate follow-up is executed, such as problem remediation and root cause analysis.
- Analyzing network traffic and predicting growth to determine future needs.
- Supervising the installation of new Network software and hardware.
- Align and integrate with the development of the bank’s overall platform architecture.
Skills Description
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems (or a related field), or equivalent experience is required.
Professional Certifications:
Cisco, FortiGate,PaloAlto, Juniper and F5 preferred.
Experience:
- 3+ years related work experience.
- Comprehensive technical experience and certification of Cisco Routing & Switching or Data Center products, TCP/IP protocol and configuring Network & security products such as Security Gateways, firewalls, routers and switches.
- Conceptual knowledge in Active Directory, Antivirus, e- Mail products.
- Knowledgeable In application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, And Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications/Protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances.
- Experience in implementing network security solutions, network troubleshooting techniques
- Experience with one or more of the preferred security device platforms (Fortigate Cisco ASA, Juniper firewall)
- Solid background in network administration and architecture
- Familiarity with access control models and network security
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
- Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS)
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and communication protocols in LAN/WAN deployments
- Knowledge of security best practice guidelines (SAMA, NIST, PCI-DSS)
- Highly motivated with the ability to work effectively in a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with the ability to interact with the team
- Sharp troubleshooting skills
