Data Centre Facility Engineer

1. Define monitoring and management requirements. Monitor, Track, and Report on all job or errors.
2. Maintain and monitor all GIB Data Centre Facilities with 99% uptime.
3. Update and maintain monitoring tools.
4. Administer installation and maintenance of organization data center.
5. Monitor all activities related to analysis and implement all data center plans.
6. Supervise designing and evaluation of all rack’s capacity management.
7. Evaluate, design, and deploy the central components of data centre facilities, including power, cooling, physical security, floor space management, and cable management.
8. Perform troubleshoot on Data Centre, identify issues, and assist in timely resolution of same.
9. Ensure adherence to all established guidelines and management practices for the Data Centre.
10. Ensuring compliance with all applicable building codes and standards.
11. Coordinate with various departments and perform integration of critical systems into infrastructure of Data Centre.
12. Coordinate with IT, enhancement and business teams and develop strategies to ensure achievement of data centre capacity.
13. ensure adherence to established procedures for work operations.
14. maintain proper records of work activities, as well as present reports to superiors.
15. Appropriately escalate any error/issue that progresses beyond first-level support.
16. Participate in business continuity exercises.
17. Improve process and tools to automate operational tasks (i.e., monitoring Data Center components) to improve efficiency and consistency.
18. Act as liaison with Infrastructure, Command Center, and Application teams to enhance monitoring and identify recurring issues, maintaining ownership through problem resolution.
19. Provide triage and remediation to monitoring alerts.
20. Operates the computer systems and any associated equipment.
21. Maintains registers to record all documents received in the Data Centre and all output / results dispatched.
22. Ensures activities of all subordinates are carried out efficiently.
23. Controls all media and stationery stocks used in the Data Centre.
24. Diagnoses abnormal situations and reports all occurrences, which are not routine, matters to Data Centre Manager and Heads.
25. Arrange installation and relocation of hardware equipment.
26. Assists Data Centre Manager with the preparation of DC and IT Operations reports / statistics.
27. Liaises frequently with Data Centre Manager and Heads and reports immediately any matter requiring his attention.
28. Ensures a high standard of Data Centre appearance, safety, security, and functional purpose.
29. Trains and assesses subordinates.
30. Applies discipline and procedures.
31. Ensures that users are kept well informed, in advance, of any problem or delay, which effect their results or working arrangements.
32. High-level understanding of the IT requirements within a data center, including liaising with IT groups to gather and assess their build requirements.
33. Meet and exceed all established KPI’s and SLAs as directed by the company and customers.
34. Maintain records and drawing schematics of the Data Centre detailing installed equipment.
35. Perform preventative maintenance of on-site infrastructure (e.g., maintenance of primary infrastructures), and lead vendors in maintenance activities.
36. Undertake repairs and corrective maintenance of critical infrastructure i.e., UPS, generator, BMS, chillers, life safety systems.
37. Pursues any other related activities as directed by his superiors.
38. Flexibility to work nights and weekends in support of 24x7x365 operations when required.
39. Respond to all on-site incidents and act as the need arises.

• Demonstrated knowledge of IT Operations processes and procedures.
• General awareness of IT Infrastructure technologies, topologies and protocols including servers, storage, backup, networks etc.
• Data Centre facility equipment operations.
• Highly motivated with the team leadership.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with the ability to interact with the team.
• Fluent in English (both verbal and written).
• Familiarity with different monitoring tools, DCIM and BMS is a plus
